Meeting October 1, 2012

In attendance:  Jan Kucerik, Marlene Ricalde, Linda Santiago, Jane Cato, Esther Gonzalez Wright and Pam Benton

  1. We began by giving a little overview to Jan.  
  2. We discussed the paperwork and the progress on it.  Pam will have the principal letters ready by next Monday.  
  3. We discussed asking our students what technology they have available.
  4. We broke into groups by level:
    1. Spanish 2 group:  Esther & Marlene
      M. Ricalde and E. Gonzalez-Wright
      We are working on flipping for Spanish 2 Unit 7 The body

      We concentrated our efforts on the Essential Content from that Unit:
      Body parts; reflexive verbs and tenet and ester idiomatic expressions.

      We found the following videos from Sr. Jordan for the reflexive verbs (in 3 parts):

      6 week plan: 15 lessons
      Topics
      ·         Vocabulary regarding school activities and feelings
      o   Our plan for the vocabulary is making an animated power point presenting it for the students to watch at home. 
      o   We would like to look for Olympics clips showing the vocabulary for the sports. Use BBC mundo.
      Grammar lessons:
      ·         Basic preterite explanation: Look for video/song called “single past action”. 
      o   Activity to follow up: 1 question interview, ¿Qué hiciste ayer?
      ·         Reflexive pronouns review
      o   Use Javier’s video of the daily routine to review daily routine. 
      o   Activity to follow up: Timeline reporting what Javier did yesterday.
      ·         Ponerse expressions and the verb dar in the preterite.
      ·         Body parts and symptoms. 
      ·         Have a conversation recorded between a doctor and a patient. 
      o   Consider contacting Dr. Cano.
